Adolescents - What is it?

Hello everyone - as parents we all know this time is coming for our children, but are we ready? Well I would like to think I am but then again I thought I was ready to be a parent when I started having children - only to find out I had no idea what was going on and had to make choices I never made before on the drop of a dime. Adolescents is something that all children find themselves in and find their way out of. What happens in between will vary for each child and family but I hope I can help you find a path that is not as bumpy, stressful, difficult, and or scary as other paths you might have thought you would be on. I am going to focus on two main parts of life that happens during adolescents to focus on and those will be puberty and graduation - with a touch of school after high school. I picked these topics to blog about to other parents (you guys) because they are two big events that our children should eventually be in and the more we know the better we can help them during this time.

Adolescents is the time between the ages of about 10 years old until about 18 - 22 years old, depending on the child, the start and stop age differs - this is an average (Santrock, 2014). This is a time for deep emotional, physical, biological and mental changes within our children. Everything they know and feel starts to change, their bodies change, their brains change, their hormones change and what they like to do changes. This can cause stress at home with parents and siblings as well as in public and at school.
